According to the statement, Harris is accused of sexually assaulting a student early Sunday morning at a residence hall on campus.

Gainesville police are working with UF's police "to assist with collection and analysis of forensic evidence."

"We have no tolerance for sexual assault on our campus," UF President Bernie Machen said. "The university is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for every member of the UF community. We must strive to protect all of our students from sexual harassment and assault and do everything in our power to promote a safe learning environment."

Harris, a true freshman from Miami, came off the bench last weekend and helped lead the Gators to a 10-9 comeback win at Tennessee. Many fans were calling for embattled head coach Will Muschamp to replace starting quarterback Jeff Driskel with Harris.

According to the statement, the investigation is ongoing and the school is "cooperating fully."
