Florida Panthers cut cheerleaders

Lady Panthers done after 9 years of dancing on ice

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – The Lady Panthers are no more.

According to a tweet from the Florida Panthers PR account Wednesday, the National Hockey League team's cheerleading squad won't return for the upcoming season.

The team thanked the Lady Panthers for nine years of service.

"Moving forward our game presentation will feature a skating only team," a tweet said.

Although the Panthers didn't say why the dancers are being dropped, it likely has to do with cost-cutting measures.

The team's website billed the Lady Panthers as "the best dance team in the NHL."
