Florida State Seminoles unveil 2015 football schedule

Seminoles open ACC schedule with Friday night trip to Boston College

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – For the first time in a few years, Florida State will get some breathing room between rivals Miami and Florida.

Florida State will host the Hurricanes on Oct. 10 and conclude its 2015 season at Florida, the school announced Thursday in conjunction with the Atlantic Coast Conference.

This year's meeting with Miami is the earliest since 2012. The Seminoles, who are 5-0 against the Hurricanes under head coach Jimbo Fisher, have faced Miami in November each of the past two seasons, leaving just a few weeks before the Florida game. Now FSU will have more than a month to regroup before the traditional Saturday-after-Thanksgiving meeting with the Gators.

When the Seminoles open the season at home Sept. 5 against Texas State, they'll do so with a new quarterback under center.

Jameis Winston, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2013 and finished his Florida State career with a 27-1 record as a starter, left early for the NFL Draft and is considered to be a candidate for the No. 1 overall pick.

Florida State will play a rare Friday night game Sept. 18 at Boston College. It will be FSU's first regular-season Friday game since the 2004 season opener against Miami was rescheduled from Labor Day because of Hurricane Frances.

Another surprise on the schedule is a date with South Florida in the second week of the season. The Sept. 12 game had originally been scheduled for Sept. 26, which is now a bye week.

A week before FSU hosts Miami, the Seminoles must travel to Wake Forest.

The Seminoles will host Louisville on Oct. 17 and travel to ACC Coastal Division champion Georgia Tech on Oct. 24.

FSU returns home for a Halloween game against Syracuse, but the Seminoles must face Clemson at "Death Valley" the next weekend.

The home schedule concludes with consecutive games against North Carolina State (Nov. 14) and Tennessee-Chattanooga (Nov. 21).
