Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Gibson was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a left knee injury, ending his first season with the team.
Gibson was hurt in the first half of Sunday's loss at New England and replaced by Rishard Matthews.
"It's a tremendous loss," receiver Mike Wallace said. "Brandon scored three touchdowns in the last two games, and we could definitely use that. But when Rishard came in the game he did a good job, and I think he'll continue to do that. You can't panic. We're not the only team this has happened to. We just have to keep pushing."
Gibson signed a $9.78 million, three-year contract as a free agent last offseason, and became a favorite target of Ryan Tannehill. He finished the year with 30 catches for 326 yards and three touchdowns.
Matthews, who has 19 catches in two NFL seasons, will now assume a more prominent role in the Dolphins' sputtering offense. They'll try to snap a four-game losing streak Thursday against Cincinnati.
