Heaps held out of Canes scrimmage

Quarterback out "to rest his arm"

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Miami Hurricanes held a closed scrimmage on Monday night.

According to the school, QB Jake Heaps was held out of the scrimmage "to rest his arm."

Heaps, 23, is one of two finalists for the Canes starting quarterback job.

The other candidate, freshman Brad Kaaya, participated in the scrimmage.

Kaaya threw 2 touchdown passes for Miami.

The Canes open up their season on September 1 at Louisville.
