The Miami Heat not only beat the Indiana Pacers on Friday night, the Heat sent a message by winning 98-86.

Miami had a 3-point lead at the half.

The Heat exploded for a 16-0 run in the 3rd quarter.

That run included a strip and steal by Tony Douglas, a LeBron James basket and a foul, and two putback layups by Udonis Haslem.

James led the Heat in scoring with 36 points.

Miami played without Dwyane Wade (hamstring) for the 9th straight game.

Haslem contributed 11 points and 9 rebounds.

Mario Chalmers scored 13 points.

The Heat jumped to the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

Miami leads Indiana by a half-game.

The Heat travel to Atlanta on Saturday night.
