MIAMI -

The future of Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland remains unclear.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross spent several hours at the team's facility on Thursday discussing the direction of the franchise.

On Sunday night, NFL network's Michael Silver tweeted "Against all odds, I'm hearing that Jeff Ireland may stay on as Dolphins GM."

Ross is evaluating a team that finished 8-8.

The Dolphins missed the playoffs by losing their final two games.

Ross is reportedly evaluating Ireland, head coach Joe Philbin and offensive coordinator Mike Sherman.
