UM's Johnson, FSU's Winston in Heisman conversation

Young stars making impact

MIAMI – Several stars with South Florida connections are being mentioned early on in the Heisman race.

According to the gambling website Bovada, University of Miami running back Duke Johnson is 10-1 to win the award. In his first game against Florida Atlantic, Johnson had over 200 all-purpose yards.

Florida State freshman quarterback Jameis Winston is also listed at 10-1 odds following his debut Monday night at Pittsburgh where the freshman threw for an impressive four touchdowns and rushed for one more.

Louisville quarterback, and former Miami Northwestern Bulls star, Teddy Bridgewater is the betting favorite at 5-1.

Current Heisman winner Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M is the third overall favorite at 15-2 just behind Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller.
