MIAMI - Marlins ace Jose Fernandez was united with his grandmother on Sunday.

The team tweeted a picture of Fernandez and his grandmother with a caption that read "She's the love of my life, my everything."

Fernandez, 21, defected from Cuba to play baseball in the United States.

On Monday, the national league will give out the Rookie of the Year award.

Fernandez is the top contender.

In his first year with the Marlins, Fernandez finished 12-6 with a 2.19 ERA.

Fernandez electrified fans for a Marlins team that lost more than 100 games.
