Larranaga wins Naismith Coach of the Year

Canes coach picks up big honor

ATLANTA – Canes coach Jim Larranaga picked up a big honor on Sunday.

He was awarded the 2013 Naismith Coach of the Year.

The award was presented at a brunch in Atlanta.

Larranaga led the Canes to their first ACC regular season and tournament championships.

Coach L also led Miami all the way to the Sweet 16.

Larranaga said Sunday, "It is humbling and really an honor to receive a national award like this, especially, in the name of the founder of our game, Dr. James Naismith."
