Medals awarded in women's 100-meter hurdles

Rollins gets gold, Ali gets silver

After claiming two of the three podium spots in the women's 100-meter hurdles in London, the Americans swept the event Wednesday night in Rio.

Brianna Rollins won gold and fellow Americans Nia Ali and Kristi Castlin won silver and bronze, respectively.

The U.S. has now medaled in the event for five straight Olympics since missing the podium at the 1996 Atlanta Games.

That includes the 2012 Olympics, when Dawn Harper won silver and Kellie Wells won bronze behind gold-medalist Sally Pearson of Australia.

The Americans' dominance in the final didn't come as that big of a surprise given all three advanced from Tuesday's prelims by winning their heats, with Rollins and Castlin posting the two fastest times while Ali was sixth overall.
