MIAMI – Ichiro Suzuki spoke to the Miami media Monday, one day after becoming the 30th player to reach 3,000 career hits.
The 42-year-old Marlins outfielder reached the milestone Sunday in Miami's 10-7 win against the Colorado Rockies in Denver.

He became the first player born in Japan to reach 3,000, and joined Paul Molitor, his former hitting coach in Seattle, as the only ones to hit the mark with a triple.
Marlins president David Samson said Suzuki always had the team in mind when it came to the 3,000th hit.
Suzuki said through a translator that he won't use the bat anymore. He said that all of his personal baseball memorabilia will go to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, after he dies.
It was also announced that anyone with a 2016 Marlins ticket would receive free admission to the Hall of Fame this year.
