Riley admitted that he should have had a more hands on approach when it came to contract talks with Wade who was the face of the Heat franchise for 13 years, "I wasn't at the middle of the negotiations and that's my fault."

Riley added, "from my standpoint and the team's standpoint, we've had a tough summer, period."

The media also asked Riley about the status of All-Star Chris Bosh who has been sidelined the last two years with blood clots.

"He's been working out. It's moving forward and down the road towards him playing," Riley said of Bosh.

But that, "we should wait until August and September and we'll know more then" about Bosh's health and playing status.
