Heat's Bosh to miss rest remainder of season

All-Star missed final 29 games of regular season with blood clot

MIAMI ā€“ The Miami Heat have announced that All-Star forward Chris Bosh will miss the remainder of the season.

Bosh, who missed the final 29 games of the regular season after a blood clot was found in his leg during the All-Star break, has not played in any of the Heat's post-season games.

In a release sent out late Wednesday afternoon, Bosh and the team announced the move.

"The Miami HEAT and Chris Bosh announce that Chris will not be playing in the remainder of the 2016 NBA Playoffs. The HEAT, Chris, the doctors and medical team have been working together throughout this process and will continue to do so to return Chris to playing basketball as soon as possible."

Bosh's status has taken a controversial tone over the last few days as the 11-time All-Star and his wife claimed on social media that he was healthy enough to play.

On March 10, Bosh released a statement saying that he had a clean bill of health.

"I know there have been many questions regarding my health and when I will play again. My situation this year has never been life-threatening. I am feeling great and currently I do not have deep-vein thrombosis.

The Heat have maintained he had not be cleared by team doctors.

The NBA player's union was reportedly set to take up Bosh's case to return to the court, but today's announcement will reportedly end those efforts.
