Report: Fizdale agrees to 4-year deal to become Grizzlies head coach

Fizdale has met with Memphis owner and General Manager

Heat assistant coach David Fizdale appears ready to take the Grizzlies head coaching job.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The problem with having a good NBA coaching staff is that other team's want to poach your coaches.

Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Memphis Grizzlies and David Fizdale have agreed on a 4-year contract for the head coaching job.

According to the report, the 4th season is a team option.

ESPN's Marc Stein reports that Fizdale has interviewed with Memphis owner Robert Pera after previously meeting with the team's general manager Chris Wallace.

Fizdale has been a Heat assistant for eight seasons, becoming Erik Spoelstra's associate head coach after the retirement of Ron Rothstein in 2014.

The Grizzlies fired head coach Dave Joerger on May 7.
