MIAMI - Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside has been named the NBA's Eastern Conference player of the week after shooting a league-best 73 percent from the field last week.
The NBA made the announcement Monday.
Whiteside finished second in the East in rebounding (13.7 rebounds per game) and 11th in scoring (22 points per game) as the Heat went 2-1 last week. He also extended his streak with a block to a season-high 26 straight games.
His double-doubles in all three games set the franchise record for consecutive double-doubles with 12.
Whiteside's 900 rebounds are second in team history only to Rony Seikaly.
