NFL to choose host cities for 3 consecutive Super Bowls

South Florida among contenders

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – With $500 million worth of renovations underway at the Dolphins' stadium, South Florida is being considered a strong competitor to host a Super Bowl game within the next five years.

The NFL's 32 owners will cast their votes Tuesday during a meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Los Angeles, Atlanta, Tampa and New Orleans are also in the running.

Tuesday's decision will choose cities to host Super Bowl games from 2019 to 2021.

Los Angeles, Atlanta and South Florida are expected to hold an advantage over Tampa and New Orleans thanks to pricey stadium renovations.

The next two Super Bowls will be played in Houston and Minneapolis.

Miami Gardens last hosted a Super Bowl in 2010.
