Foster signed this offseason with the Miami Dolphins.

"There comes a time in every athlete's career when their ambition and their body are no longer on the same page," Foster explained in a written statement. "I've reached that point."

Foster, 30, is a former Pro Bowl player.

He has suffered multiple injuries throughout his career.

Foster is the Houston Texans' all-time leading rusher with more than 6,000 yards and 54 touchdowns.

Foster dropped a crucial third-down pass for the Dolphins on Sunday.

Jay Ajayi has emerged as the Dolphins primary back with more tha 200 yards in the last two games.

"I want to thank the Miami Dolphins, with everything in me, for allowing me to bow out with grace and making this process as easy as possible," Foster said.
