Dolphins, Ajayi complete comeback win over Bills

Jay Ajayi tops 200 rushing yards for 2nd straight game

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi topped 200 rushing yards for a second straight game as Miami earned an impressive comeback win over the Buffalo Bills 28-25.

Ajayi, who totaled 214 rushing yards Sunday, joined a very exclusive club of NFL running backs to put together back-to-back 200+ rushing yard games.

The only other players to accomplish the feat are O.J. Simpson, Earl Campbell and former Dolphin Ricky Williams.

Dolphins head coach Adam Gase said, "the one thing I do know is that every time (number) 23 kept getting the ball he was popping a run. It was leaning on him (Ajayi), leaning on the offensive line. I'm sure (center Mike) Pouncey walked by me 25 times and said, 'keep running it,' so that might have gotten into my head after a while."

Ajayi appeared to cramp up in the fourth quarter and that's when back up Damien Williams came in and ran for the go-ahead touchdown that gave the Dolphins a 21-17 lead.

Fins quarterback Ryan Tannehill iced the game with a 66 yard touchdown pass to Kenny Stills for a 28-17 lead.

The Fins brought the Buffalo win streak to a stop at four games.

The Dolphins pulled within three points, 17-14, late in the third quarter after an Ajayi four yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion from Tannehill to Jarvis Landry.

The Bills took a 17-6 lead in the third quarter when Tyrod Taylor hit Marquise Goodwin on a deep touchdown pass that totaled 67 yards.

Ajayi had 99 rushing yards in the first half alone.

The Fins trailed 10-6 at the half after a promising drive in the second quarter stalled when Landry was called for unnecessary roughness on a vicious block on Aaron Williams, forcing the Fins to settle for an Andrew Franks field goal.

Williams was forced to leave the game.

Taylor gave Buffalo a 10-3 lead with a 10 yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

The Dolphins put together a long game-opening drive behind solid running by Ajayi, but the Fins were forced to settle for a field goal and a 3-0 lead.

Cameron Wake sacked Taylor on third down in the Bills' opening drive as Buffalo also settled for an early field goal and a 3-3 tie.
