Dolphins cut roster to 53

Daniel Thomas, Rashawn Scott among cuts Saturday

DAVIE, Fla. – The Dolphins waived 16 players on cut down day in order to trim their roster to the 53-player limit.

In all five veterans were released, the biggest name being running back Daniel Thomas.

The other vets waived were cornerback Chimdi Chekwa, linebacker James-Michael Johnson, tight end Dominique Jones and tackle Sam Young.

Former Hurricanes receiver Rashawn Scott, an undrafted rookie, was also cut.

Cornerback Chris Culliver was placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list.
