A third-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 1997 out of Akron, Taylor becomes only the second Dolphins defensive player to make it to Canton, Ohio, joining linebacker Nick Buoniconti.

"To say that I'm elated is an understatement," Taylor said. "This whole experience has been humbling, but today, to get that knock on the door and to be welcomed into the most sacred and prestigious fraternity in our game, I'm almost at a loss for words."

Taylor was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and was the 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He spent his first 11 NFL seasons with the Dolphins. He returned to Miami in 2009 after one season with the Washington Redskins. Taylor played for the New York Jets in 2010 before playing one final season with the Dolphins in 2011.
