Tannehill relaxed, learning new offense

Dolphins continue offseason workouts

DAVIE, Fla. ā€“ It was a calm, relaxed Ryan Tannehill that met a much larger group of media on day 3 of Dolphins OTAs.

"What, are they feeding you guys lunch?"

Perhaps there's a reason: even though this will be his third offense in his short career, new Dolphins coach Adam Gase has made it clear: This is Tannehill's offense, not the coach's.

Gase has made that point with his actions rather than just words. Tannehill admitted on Thursday, perhaps for the first time, that he didn't have the freedom to change plays at the line of scrimmage under previous offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. Gase is giving Tannehill the chance to do that and then some, as Tannehill put it, making the quarterback feel like a coach himself in preparation.

The results will obviously tell the tale, but the QB and his new coach seem to be meshing well early in their new relationship. Important, considering their work together will be the biggest factor in whether the Dolphins finish as a playoff team or an also-ran in 2016 and perhaps beyond.
