Philbin: Dolphins forming identity
Coach sees improvement on field
Head Coach Joe Philbin sees the 2013 Miami Dolphins forming their identity.
Miami beat the Jets 23-3 on Sunday and reviewed film on Monday.
Coach Philbin said, "We're not going to reinvent ourselves from a schematic standpoint in December. We've been at this thing since May, training camp, preseason games, 11 regular season games before yesterday, and this is what we do. We should have an identity now of things we do well."
Philbin said the last two weeks of practice have been the best of the season, even though the Fins didn't beat Carolina the game before Sunday.
Philbin said of his defense, "Defensively we're starting to inch up to the type of defense that we all want to be in terms of, I think we're 9th in the league in points allowed. The name of the game is scoring on offense and not allowing scores on defense. We're starting on defense to become the type of team that we want to be."
The Dolphins (6-6) are tied for the last playoff seed in the AFC, but Baltimore holds the tiebreaker.
Miami plays at Pittsburgh next Sunday.
