JUNE 1, 1996 - The pinnacle of the Florida Panthers "Year of the Rat" came when the cats skated past the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. John Vanbiesbrouck's 39 saves helped the Panthers win 3-1 and advance to their one and only Stanley Cup Finals appearance vs. Colorado.

MAY 18, 1997 - The Miami Heat's first venture into Game 7 territory actually took a back seat the the brawl vs. the Knicks that occurred earlier in the Eastern Conference Semifinal series. The iconic image of head coach Jeff Van Gundy holding onto Alonzo Mourning's leg for dear life may be what people remember, it was the Heat who prevailed 101-90 in Game 7 while moving on to face the Chicago Bulls.

OCTOBER 26, 1997 - One of the greatest moments in South Florida sports history came in a Game 7 when the Florida Marlins won their first World Series with a 3-2 win in 11 innings over the Cleveland Indians. Edgar Renteria's single to bring home Craig Counsell is an image that will live forever.

MAY 21, 2000 - For the second straight year, the Knicks eliminated the Heat from the postseason with a one point road win in Miami. Clarence Weatherspoon had a chance to win it for the Heat, but missed a jumper with seconds remaining to give the Knicks the Game 7 and Eastern Conference Semifinals win.

JUNE 6, 2005 - The Heat's dreams of a first-ever NBA Finals appearance came to a sad end in the Eastern Conference Finals vs. the Pistons. With Dwyane Wade banged up with a rib injury, there was no stopping Detroit who won the Game 7 88-82, advancing to a second straight NBA Finals appearance.
