MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -

Authorities announced Thursday that all rape charges have been dropped against former NFL star Darren Sharper stemming from an incident in Miami Beach due to lack of evidence.

An assistant state attorney said the decision was based on the fact that it was Sharper's word against the alleged victim, there was no physical evidence and there were inconsistent statements made by the victim, among other reasons.

Sharper still faces charges in Arizona, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New Orleans.

He has been held in jail without bail in Los Angeles since Feb. 27 on date-rape charges.
