The Chicago Blackhawks will play the Washington Capitals in next season's Winter Classic, according to multiple reports.

It will be the Blackhawks' third outdoor game and second Winter Classic. They hosted the New Year's Day game in 2009 at Wrigley Field and a Stadium Series game at Soldier Field last season.

Next season's Winter Classic is expected to be played at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. That location has not been officially announced. The Blackhawks will be named the Capitals' opponent when the NHL releases the schedule for the season this weekend.

The Capitals are hosting the Winter Classic for the first time. They visited the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2011 event at Heinz Field.

The NHL is reportedly only scheduling two outdoor games next season after having six last season. The other one is set in the San Francisco Bay Area. It will be played at either AT&T Park in San Francisco or Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
