DAVIE, Fla. -

The Miami Dolphins appear to be lining up candidates for their vacant general manager position.

According to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean, the Dolphins are one of two teams to request permission to interview Lake Dawson, the Titans Vice President of Player Personnel.

The Buccaneers are the other team reportedly looking to speak with Dawson.

A former NFL player, Dawson has worked within the Titans organization for seven seasons, including the last two in his current position.

As Vice President of Player Personnel, Dawson works alongside Tennessee GM Ruston Webster in managing the team's day-to-day operations.

Prior to joining the Titans, Dawson worked with Seattle.

The Tennessean says that Dawson interviewed with St. Louis last season during their general manager search.

The Dolphins and general manager Jeff Ireland ended their relationship on Tuesday after six seasons. Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel told Local 10 on Wednesday that the search for the team's new GM would begin in earnest on Friday.
