Report: LeBron James may skip 2016 Olympics

MIAMI – All that glitters may no longer be gold for Heat superstar LeBron James.

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that James is unlikely to play for Team USA during the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

James, who has won two gold medals, will reportedly end his tenure with USA Basketball to spend more time with his family.

The Yahoo! article makes note that James, 28, would benefit from more time away from the court during the off-season as he gets older. With the Heat, LeBron has made three straight trips to the NBA Finals, extending his season and the wear and tear on his body.

The Olympic playing status for LeBron's Heat teammates, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, is also up in the air. Injuries kept Wade off Team USA during the 2012 London Olympics.

USA Basketball is currently holding a minicamp as they prepare for next year's world championships in Spain.
