Strikers lose to Tampa Bay Rowdies 2-1

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A 2-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rowdies knocked the Fort Lauderdale Strikers out of contention for the 2013 Soccer Bowl

The Rowdies took the lead on a goal by Lucky Mkosana in the 13th minute. Martin Nuñez equalized in the 38th minute.

Luke Mulholland scored the winning goal in the 76th minute after a penalty was called when Pecka brought down Keith Savage inside the box.

"We knew that the Rowdies would come with pressure in the second half, but there was no way in my opinion we could lose after coming back before halftime," said Strikers coach Günter Kronsteiner. "We had chances to win the game."

The loss left the Strikers 10 points behind the New York Cosmos with three games remaining.

The Strikers next play the Atlanta Silverbacks at Lockhart Stadium on Oct. 19.
