Strikers to play charity game for teen

Mateus Oliveira killed in car crash on I-95 in May

BOCA RATON, Fla. ā€“ The Fort Lauderdale Strikers will play Florida Memorial University in a charity match benefiting the family of Mateus Oliveira, a Boca Raton High soccer team alum who was killed in a car crash on Interstate 95 in May.

The match at Boca Raton High School will take place at 7:15 p.m. on August 27. Tickets will be $5 at the door, and all proceeds will go to the Oliveira family.

"We're honored to be asked by Coach Castillo to help with this fundraiser," said Strikers President Tom Mulroy. "We believe it's important to give back to the community and it's great to see the community pulling together for a family who has been through a terrible tragedy."

Oliveira played soccer at Boca Raton High for four years. His body was flown to Brazil for his funeral in August.
