UM's Morris to miss Louisville NCAA regional

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami baseball team will play the NCAA Louisville Regional without their coach in the dugout.

Hurricanes officials announced that coach Jim Morris will miss this weekend's regional while he recuperates from a bout with pneumonia.

Morris remains in the same North Carolina hospital where he was admitted last week during the ACC Baseball Tournament in Durham.

In Morris' place, Miami's hitting coach Gino DiMare will take over the reins of the team.

With their manager in the hospital, the Hurricanes were able to defeat Clemson on Saturday, just hours after Morris was taken to Duke University Hospital.

The Hurricanes are the regional's No. 2 seed and are scheduled to open play on Friday against Oklahoma State.
