Estimated 12,500 pounds of food donated on Local 10's Day of Giving

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – South Florida showed its heart on the Local 10 Day of Giving.

Local 10 teamed up with Publix Super Markets from before sunrise to after sunset Friday to collect non-perishable foods and new, unwrapped toys for the needy in our community.

Your One & Only Local 10 News team was at select area Publix stores in Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties to greet guests who helped stock the shelves of local organizations that feed the hungry.

As of 5 p.m., the Day of Giving has collected an estimated 12,500 pounds of food and hundreds of dollars in gift cards across all five participating Publix stores.
