MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -

A group of people came to the rescue of newly hatched baby sea turtles disoriented by Wednesday night's fireworks.

A Local 10 viewer said the people were watching fireworks near Fifth Street and Ocean Drive when all of a sudden, they felt something on their feet. They realized that some sea turtles had just hatched.

The people used the lights on their cellphones to help guide the babies to the water.

Those involved counted about 40 turtles. They said it took about 20 minutes of coaxing for the turtles to reach the water.
