Hollywood church holds 'Blessing of the Animals'

Annual custom held in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi's love for all creatures

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -

Dogs, cats, hamsters, and even turtles are just some of the species of pets lining up at a Hollywood church on Sunday Oct. 7 for the Blessing of the Animals, an annual custom held in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi's love for all creatures.

The event will take place at 11 a.m. in the courtyard of St. John's Lutheran Church, located at 2919 Van Buren Street.

The blessing of the pets in not about religion, but about remembering that our animals are a great gift to each of us.
