Miami Fire Rescue saves kitten from storm drain
Rescue was a 45 minute undertaking
Miami Fire Rescue saved a kitten trapped in a storm drain at Northwest Fifth Street and Seventh Avenue Sunday morning.
Crews were called in around 7 a.m. and found the kitten after hearing him cry from inside the storm drain.
Firefighter paramedics from the Hazardous Materials Team and the Technical Rescue Team set up the rescue operation using special equipment.
After 45 minutes, they were able to successfully pull the kitten from the drain.
Because firefighters were unable to find a mother cat or possible owner nearby, they took the male kitten back to the fire station for a bath and warm food -- and to hopefully find it a good home.
