Weddings, birthdays, newborns part of rare day
South Florida celebrated December 12th, 2012, with weddings, birthdays, and newborns.
Alan and Lori Corriveau, who had both been married before, married each other on the beach at sundown Wednesday.
"We were living together for a while and everything was great and then you know 12/12/12 came around and we said hey, what the heck. We might as well do it," said Alan Corriveau.
They planned their wedding in three weeks, not wanting to miss the chance to get married on a once-in-a-lifetime day.
Ida Ginsburg celebrated her 105th birthday. She was 5 years old on Dec. 12th, 1912. Ida Ginsburg was 5 years old on her first 12-12-12.
Ginsburg married at 22 years old in New York and has three children, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Her simple advice for a happy life: "My family are good people. That's my happiness in life."
Kimberly Caballero, a teacher in Pembroke Pines, gave birth to her son Andreas. She said she was eating pizza with her family Tuesday night when she went into labor.
"When they told me it's actually 12/12/12 and I looked over and I said, 'Oh my God, it actually is.' I was pretty surprised," said Caballero. "I told my doctor, 'I don't want to be induced. He comes when he's ready.' And, he came on the 12th."
Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach reported a baby was born at 12:12 p.m. on 12/12/12.
