Blue Collar goes pink for breast cancer
Chef Danny Serfer created special menu to honor his late mother, raise money for Susan G. Koman Foundation
Blue Collar, a restaurant in Miami, is cooking up ways to help find a cure for breast cancer.
During the month of October, Blue Collar, located at 6730 Biscayne Boulevard, is going pink as it raises funds for the Susan G. Koman Foundation.
Chef Danny Serfer's mother Marsha died of breast cancer 10 years ago. She was 52.
Marsha was also the one to inspire him to become a professional chef.
"She was the first person to encourage and tell me it was okay to become a chef instead of a lawyer," said Serfer.
In honor of his mother, Serfer has cooked up a full menu of items from a salad to duck breast.
His favorite dish, the prime rib, is a special family recipe.
"The prime rib she did real well, better than anyone else on earth," said Serfer.
Along with these dishes, a Movado Watch is up for grabs. Raffle tickets are on sale now at the restaurant with proceeds going towards the cure.
Serfer said it's the least he can do to carry on his mother's memory.
"Sometimes it's a little overwhelming. Some of those who knew her as a friend -- they have the salad and they reminisce about her. It is a very flattering feeling," said Serfer.
