Seeking to increase pressure on McDonald's, Wendy's and other fast-food restaurants, organizers of a movement demanding a $15-an-hour wage for fast-food workers say they will sponsor one-day strikes in 100 cities on Thursday and protest activities in 100 additional cities. … Officials with the National Restaurant Association have said the one-day strikes are publicity stunts. They warn that increasing pay to $15 an hour when the federal minimum wage is $7.25 would cause restaurants to rely more on automation and hire fewer workers.
THELAW.TV polled 500 Internet users to find out whether they believe fast-food workers should be paid higher wages. A strong majority said, no, fast-food workers should not be paid higher wages.

- "No. Fast food jobs should be temporary. They they should be starter jobs for young people trying to gain some work experience. If you're in your 30s or 40s and you aren't management, you deserve whatever minimum wage salary you get."
- "Yes, but not as much as they think."
- "If you have minimum skills and education you deserve minimum wage."
- "I don't think so. Why should someone working in fast food with 16 year olds get the same pay as someone that has been to college and is trying to pay off loans."
- "Absolutely!"
- "For people who can't get any other jobs, yes, the wage should be increased. Not for the teenager looking for some spending money."
- "No, it's a revolving door. Why increase them if there's no need to?"
- "No. They're entry level jobs. They honestly don't deserve anything higher than minimum wage unless they're working full-time and actually busting their a**."
- "If wages are increased, so will prices. The purpose was to let families have a cheap dinner."
- "Yes, they work very hard."
- "Yes. That job is hell and I worked harder there than I have at any other job, for the smallest pay."
- "Sure. Everyone should get higher wages."
- "I worked fast food for three years an I don't think so."
- "No. They should apply for a better job. I considered these stepping stones or first jobs to get you more well adapt to the working environment."
