1 injured in crash involving school bus, motorized wheelchair in Miami Beach

Person in wheelchair taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center with minor injuries

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – One person was injured Wednesday morning in a crash involving a school bus and motorized wheelchair in Miami Beach, authorities said.

Sky 10 was above 86th Street and Harding Avenue just after 7 a.m. and saw a Stars Learning school bus parked in the middle of the roadway and a motorized wheelchair on the sidewalk.

According to Miami Beach police, the bus was heading south on Harding Avenue when someone in a motorized wheelchair darted into the street.

The rear-end of the bus scraped the wheelchair, causing it to fall over and knocking the occupant to the ground.

Miami Beach Fire Department officials said the person in the wheelchair bumped their head and was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center with minor injuries.

No students were injured.

The bus driver will not be cited.
