Eastbound lanes of Palmetto Expressway reopen after fatal crash

Passenger killed after car crashes into retaining wall

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The eastbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway were closed for several hours Wednesday morning near U.S. Highway 441 because of a fatal crash.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a car crashed into a retaining wall.

The driver was taken to a hospital in stable condition. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sky 10 was over the scene, where a body could be seen covered by a yellow tarp.

Drivers were advised to take Northwest 167th Street or Miami Gardens Drive as alternate routes.
