Motorcycle cop airlifted after crash on Turnpike

MIRAMAR, Fla. - The northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike were closed Tuesday morning after a police officer crashed his motorcycle near the near the Miami-Dade/Broward line.

According to Miramar police, a group of Miami-Dade police motorcycles were traveling on the Turnpike, when one of the motorcycles went down.

The officer was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital as a precaution.

Police say his injuries do not appear to be serious.

All lanes of the Turnpike reopened around 8:45 a.m.
