Police officer escorting Hillary Clinton motorcade crashes motorcycle on Palmetto Expressway

Pinecrest officer airlifted to JMH's Ryder Trauma Center

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – All eastbound and westbound lanes were shut down Tuesday on the Palmetto Expressway in northwest Miami-Dade after a Pinecrest police officer on a motorcycle was involved in a crash while escorting Hillary Clinton's motorcade, authorities said.

The crash was reported in the westbound lanes of the highway near Northwest 67th Avenue.

Sky 10 was above the scene shortly after 4:15 p.m. and saw a helicopter landing on the highway. The officer was seen being transferred from a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue truck to the helicopter, which took him or her to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.

It's unclear whether another vehicle was involved in the crash.

Eastbound lanes were reopened by 4:30 p.m.

The officer's condition has not been released.
