WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A high-speed passenger train that will eventually connect Miami to Orlando will begin service between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale this summer.
Brightline announced Friday that introductory express service will begin between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale in late July. Service to Miami will begin in late August.

A news release from Brightline said improvements to the rail infrastructure between West Palm Beach and Miami are 80 percent complete, while the stations in West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale are nearing completion. The terminus station in downtown Miami is expected to be operational by the time service to Miami begins.
The second phase connecting Orlando to South Florida is still in the permitting process. A timeline for completion hasn't been determined.
