On this date, July of 1997 was not a good month for one household in Mitchell, SD. First, on this date, lightning struck the house's fuse box and also destroyed a freezer compressor. But apparently lightning does strike twice because on the 24th of the month, the house got struck again, destroying televisions, VCRs, and phones.
