Tropical Storm Patty formed off the coast of the Bahamas on Thursday evening, but the storm was expected to be short lived.
In the National Hurricane Center's 11 a.m. advisory, Patty was about 275 miles east-northeast of the central Bahamas. It had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and was moving northeast at 2 mph.
Patty is expected to continue drifting northeast followed by a turn toward the southwest on Saturday.
