Unusually warm winter means rough season for sled dogs
The abnormally dry and mild winter across much of the U.S. this year has many wondering "where's the snow", especially sled dogs.
There is a lack of snow in Central Wisconsin, where there is an 11 inch snowfall deficit, and that is making it tough on tourism operators that offer dog sled adventures. So they are getting creative and using sled with wheels to keep the tours going and the dogs running.
This is a practice commonly seen in Alaska during the summer to train dogs for races like the Iditarod.
