Flood advisory issued for Miami-Dade, Broward Counties

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – A flood advisory is in effect for Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, as thunderstorms rip through South Florida.

As of 5:25 p.m. Thursday, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport had 41 delayed departures and 10 delayed arrivals due to severe weather. Two flights to the Bahamas were also canceled.

A lightning strike was reported near the airport. Two workers servicing an airplane at the Delta terminal said they experienced head and arm pain and were both taken to the hospital. The Broward Sheriff's Office says it's possible that the worker who suffered arm pain could have done so from diving to the ground following the strike.

There were also 4,366 people without power in Broward County and 2,438 people in Miami-Dade who lost power.
