MIAMI -

A strong area of high pressure will continue to sit over the southeast and slowly start to weaken over the next two days. This will lead to strong winds again Thursday evening into Friday. Thursday expect winds to be northeast between 15-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Friday it will still be breezy with winds out of the east between 10-15 mph with gusts over 20 mph.

Red Flags Flying At South Florida Beaches

These strong winds will keep a high risk of rip currents along our coastlines through Friday and into the weekend. Red flags continue to fly at the lifeguard stands at the beach.

Beach Forecast

On the water in south Florida a “Small Craft Advisory” continues for the coast lines of Miami-Dade, Broward and the Florida Keys. This will continue overnight and Friday likely be downgraded to a “Small Craft Caution” that will likely last through the weekend.

Seas will be 8-11 feet Thursday evening into Friday, but it will take a little longer for the waves to die down behind the relaxing winds Friday into Saturday. Over the weekend, the offshore waters should drop to around 5 feet.
