Here is a way to help victims of Hurricane Irma in Florida Keys

Miami Heat's Jason Jackson wants you to take action this week

MIAMI – The Miami Heat's Jason Jackson wants you to join an effort to help Hurricane Irma's victims in the Florida Keys. It's simple, he wants you to eat Thursday, drink Friday and follow the caravan Sunday.

Jackson wants you to head to one of two participating Checkers restaurants Thursday. If you are in Broward, the fast-food restaurant is at 3568 Northlake Blvd., in Palm Beach Gardens. If you are in Miami-Dade, head to 5605 SW 137 Ave. in Kendall.

The restaurants will be donating the day's profits and the Palm Beach Gardens location will be collecting donations for The Jax Fam Foundation effort.

On Friday, there will be a JFF Happy Hour fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Casa de Montecristo by Prime Cigar and Whiskey Bar at 1106 South Miami Ave., in Miami's Brickell neighborhood.

The team of volunteers, including other local organizations, will be preparing packages Saturday, and on Sunday they will be making the delivery by road and sea to Big Pine Key and Marathon with the help of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
