MIAMI – The city of Miami Department of Solid Waste is suspending its services Monday because of Tropical Storm Erika.

Miami residents can dispose of waste and debris at the department's Mini Dump Facility, which will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday.

The facility is located at 1290 NW 20th St.

The Department of Solid Waste made the decision after Gov. Rick Scott declared a state of emergency as the storm nears South Florida.

The storm could hit the peninsula Monday, and Scott said Erika could pose "a severe threat to the entire state."
